Hey there! I'm Amanda Scarlati, the chef, author, and photographer behind Scarlati Family Kitchen. In addition to being a trained chef, entrepreneur, and food photographer, I'm also a wife and mother of four.
I received my professional training and degree in Culinary Arts from Le Cordon Bleu Cooking School in Arizona. My career after school was spent in restaurants and catering companies in both cooking and event planning roles.

I now currently reside in the Salt Lake City, Utah area with my family where I work full time on Scarlati Family Kitchen. When I'm not in the kitchen, you can find me outdoors, catching up on reality tv, or listening to true crime podcasts.
Food and cooking have been a big part of my life since I can remember. As a kid, I used to get up early on Saturday mornings and park myself in front of the TV. Not to watch cartoons though, but cooking shows rather. Yep, that's right, cooking shows.
I would sit with my pen and pad of paper and take notes on everything the PBS greats had to offer. Martin Yan, Justin Wilson, Julia Child, you name it!

Scarlati Family Kitchen
I started this site back in August 2017 as a way for me to share my lifelong passion for food with others. I originally went by the name, Saporito Kitchen, but recently changed to Scarlati Family Kitchen in June 2023.
Over the years, this site has developed into numerous delicious recipes. They have been thoroughly tested and proved to be trusted, time and time again. Regardless of the name change, the core values and quality of my recipes remain the same.
Most of the recipes on Scarlati Family Kitchen are ones that have been in our family or are based on inspiration from family recipes. My husband grew up in an Italian American family in Chicago and we try to uphold the love of food and culture that surrounds that. Some of the recipes are authentic Italian, while others are Italian American. I do share quite a few comfort food recipes as well that we have come to love over the years.
Cooking meals for your family from scratch doesn't have to be overly complicated. My goal is to educate my readers and help them feel confident with cooking from scratch, using real ingredients. If you are new to cooking, start with my articles on how to cook from scratch. Then move on to my from scratch essentials recipes that will give you an opportunity to practice cooking and baking from scratch.
Sign up to receive the weekly family updates where I send you everything new as well as updates from the kitchen, every Friday morning.
