Key Ingredients and Notes
- Fresh Bagels - I use large plain bagels or sourdough bagels and add my own seasonings. I've also tested this recipe with gluten-free bagels, and they work just as well.
- Oil - This helps the seasonings stick and contributes to the crisp, golden exterior. I prefer to use olive oil for a slightly peppery taste, but avocado oil can be substituted for a slightly more neutral flavor.
- Seasonings - I use a combination of garlic powder, dried oregano, and salt for a savory, herbaceous taste. I also sometimes add a dash of paprika for a little heat.

How to Make Bagel Chips
Prepare - Before you begin, preheat your oven to 350°F, and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Season the Bagels - Use a serrated knife to slice bagels in half. Then, slice each half into equal-sized wedges. Then, toss the pieces with oil and seasonings, making sure they're completely coated.

Bake - Spread the pieces in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, and bake on the center rack of the oven until they're lightly golden brown with a crispy texture, tossing halfway through.
Cool - Set the bagel chips aside to cool completely, and enjoy in a large bowl as a dip, or use them as croutons with Creamy Tomato and Mascarpone Soup or an Italian Celery Salad.
Possible Variations
- Bagels - Use flavored bagels like everything bagels or Asiago bagels, and omit the extra seasonings.
- Seasonings - Add to or replace the seasonings with whatever you like best. Everything but the bagel seasoning, Italian seasoning, and Ranch seasoning are two of my favorite options. Or, I sometimes add a ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes for a kick of spice.
- Cheese - Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of the chips before baking.
- Sweet Bagel Chips - Use cinnamon sugar in place of the seasonings for dessert-inspired bagel chips, and pair them with cream cheese or Cannoli Filling Dip.
How to Store
Once cool, leftover bagel chips keep fresh in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days. I find they lose a bit of their crispness as they sit. So, I like to quickly reheat them under the broiler in the oven before serving.
