🍋 Ingredient notes
- Lemon sorbet - This dairy free frozen confection can be store bought if you like. You can also try using my homemade lemon sorbet recipe which is a cinch to put together!
- Vodka - Any type of regular vodka can be used for this recipe. You can try flavored vodka, but proceed with caution as some of the flavors can be overpowering or conflict in taste with the lemon.
- Prosecco - This Italian sparkling wine can be found in most liquor stores. It adds bubbles with a light, fruity flavor that pairs well with the lemon. Champagne or cava could be used as a substitute, but I recommend something dry as opposed to sweet.
📋 Substitutions and variations
- Fruit - Add a bit of fresh strawberry puree or raspberry puree to the blender for berry lemon sgroppino.
- Herbs - Blend the cocktail with a few fresh basil leaves or fresh mint leaves.
- Sorbet - Different variations can be made using raspberry, peach, or lime sorbet.
- Ice Cream - Lemon gelato or Lemon ice cream can be used for a creamy sgroppino cocktail.
- Non-alcoholic - Replace the vodka and prosecco with club soda or sparkling water for a delicious mocktail.
- Float - Instead of blending the drink, a scoop of sorbet can be added to a champagne flute, then topped with vodka and prosecco.
🥂 Step by step instructions
First, add a 2-2.5 ounce scoop of the frozen lemon sorbet to a blender per cocktail. Add ยฝ chilled vodka to the sorbet along with 2 ounces of prosecco per drink.
Blend briefly until smooth and serve in champagne flutes, garnished with a lemon twist or lemon slice on the side of each glass.

⭐ Expert tips
- Ensure the lemon sorbet is completely frozen before adding it to the blender. If it's melted, then you won't get that frosty feel to the drink. It will still be delicious though!
- Chill your vodka and prosecco ahead of time to make sure the lemon sorbet doesn't melt too quickly.
- If you are only making one drink, an immersion blender (affiliate link), whisk or milk frother (affiliate link) can be used instead.
