This easy Italian sangria recipe is going to be your new favorite drink for Summer! Made with prosecco and fresh fruit, this white sangria is both light and refreshing during the warmer months.

Sangria is an alcoholic beverage that originated in Spain or Portugal. It's like a punch that is usually made from Spanish wine, fresh seasonal fruits, and sometimes liquor or juice for additional flavor. Typically there is either red sangria made with red wine or white sangria made with white wine.
This Italian-style sangria is made with prosecco, which is a sparkling Italian white wine. It gives this sangria a light and fresh flavor that pairs well with the fresh Summer fruits.
This Italian sangria would be the perfect drink served on a hot summer day with a panzanella salad, Italian steaks cooked on the grill, and some grilled peaches for dessert.

Ingredient Notes for this Recipe

- Wine - Prosecco is the Italian sparkling wine that is the base for this delicious drink. Asti spumante is another Italian sparkling wine that could be used for a sweeter version of this sangria. For a non-fizzy version, try other crispy Italian wines, such as a pinot grigio or dry rosé. Either way, I recommend picking a good wine that is not super cheap. Since it's the star of the show, you will want a decent flavor.
- Fruit - Fresh, flavorful fruit that is in season during summer will make the best sangria. Other seasonal fruit that you could add to this Summer sangria would be cherries, plums, nectarines, oranges, or other fresh berries.
Substitutions and Variations
- Non-Alcoholic - Replace the triple sec and brandy with extra peach nectar and replace the prosecco with either club soda or ginger ale. You can also try this non-alcoholic white sangria!
- Juice - Instead of peach nectar, you can try other fruit juice or puree like strawberry puree, apricot nectar, or pomegranate juice.
- For a Crowd - Serve the sangria in a large punch bowl and freeze some of the fruit for "ice cubes" to help keep it cold during serving time.
How to Make Italian-Style Sangria
First, add all of the prepared fruit to a large pitcher. Add in the triple sec, brandy, peach nectar, and prosecco.

Gently stir to combine everything together and then place the pitcher of sangria in the refrigerator to chill for 1-2 hours. At serving time, pour into a cocktail or wine glass and enjoy!

Amanda's Expert Tips
- Slice the fruit into smaller pieces for easy pouring and serving.
- Pour the prosecco into the pitcher slowly so it doesn't fizz over the top.
- For best results, chill the sangria for a couple of hours. This helps the flavors to meld together and gives the fruit time to absorb the alcohol.
- The Italian sangria can be served over ice, but it will water down the drink if it sits too long.
- For an extra special drink, serve the Italian sangria with a slice of fruit on the edge of the glass for garnish.
